Data controller

GENIWATT S.A.S. (Kinell Energy), 3 rue Joseph Cholet, 44100 Nantes, France. For any question about your data: energy-contact@gokinell.com.

Data processed, and why

• Public page (Explore): no personal data is requested. Your settings stay in your browser.
• Professional account: name, work email address, company, phone (optional), password (stored in a form that cannot be read back), role in the company. This data is used to open and manage your access, approve your sign-up and send you account emails (address verification, welcome, forgotten password). Legal basis: performance of the terms of use.
• Studies and measurements: the sites, equipment, solutions and measurement files you save or import. They are used only to run the calculations and give them back to you. Calculations run on the site’s server, in France; values sent for a calculation are not kept outside your saved studies.
• Connection log: date and time, account, company, device type, success or failure. It is used for the site’s security and for usage statistics. Legal basis: Kinell’s legitimate interest in protecting and improving the service. The IP address is not kept.

Who has access

Authorized Kinell staff, and your company administrator for the accounts of their company. Processors: Alexandre MAHE for hosting the server, in France, and IONOS for sending emails. Your data is neither sold nor used for advertising.

Site location (solar data): the town or postcode typed in the “Site location” field is sent to OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) to find the place, and its rounded coordinates are sent to PVGIS (European Commission, Joint Research Centre) to get the average solar output. These requests are made by the site’s server: neither your name, your email address, your company nor your study are sent.

How long

• account: as long as it is active, then deleted after 3 years without logging in, after a warning email;
• studies: deleted at the same time as the account, or earlier if you delete them;
• connection log: details kept for 12 months, then only anonymous totals;
• links sent by email: valid for 24 hours, single use;
• sign-ups never confirmed: deleted after 7 days.

Cookies

The site uses only the cookies needed for it to work, which do not require consent: kinell_sid (keeps your session open, 8 hours without activity) and kinell_lang (remembers the language). Your browser also keeps your latest settings and drafts, on your device only. Fonts and tools (PDF, Excel) are served by the site itself: no request is sent to another company.

Your rights

You can access your data, correct it, have it deleted, request a copy, object to or restrict its processing, by writing to energy-contact@gokinell.com. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).

Security

Encrypted connection (HTTPS), protected passwords, lockout after several failed attempts, restricted administration pages.
